Type the email message FIRST.

Do this BEFORE adding an email address to prevent sending it too early by mistake.

Never use personal email addresses such as “babylove@…” or “bigdaddy@…”.

Never use smileys or casual emoticons. ;-)

Be cautious with humor in email.

Save it for the right time in the interview — only if appropriate.

People from different cultures speak and write differently.

Miscommunication can occur because of cultural differences.

Proofread every message or have it read by someone else first.

Do not rely on spell-checkers.

Read and re-read your email a few times, preferably aloud, before sending it off.

Double-check that you have selected the correct recipient.

Think twice before hitting “Reply all.”
